Anderson AM JAM

David and I (Andrew) have been kicking around the idea of a jam format contest at the Anderson plaza. I just wanted to bring our local rider scene up to date so we could brainstorm and try and help each other out. We dont need to spread the word yet or do anything stupid, I just figure that this blog is the best way to reach everyone since we rarely all ride together at once.

GENERAL CONCEPT
We are thinking about the afternoon of the 19th of april which is a saturday, with the next weekend reserved in case of rain. The concept is to have teams of 4 am riders session the park for a set time (5-10min) and have any pro riders/ select few others in attendance judge the teams of 4. Other activities could include high bunnyhop/180, long jump (of any haggard kicker style or whatever,) long manual etc... Then we would plan on ending up the day with a rail jam best trick which all riders can be involved in.

Basically=
2pm-4pm= BMX events (high bunnyhop, long jump etc) and general jam of the park
4pm-5pm= AM JAM
5pm-???= BEST TRICK RAIL JAM and whatever else (street?)

SPONSORS?
So far Josh and Justin from Solutions said they would help out with some merch for the winners of the various contests, which is awesome. Possible sponsors are Danscomp, Hardcoresportz, Alienatation.... I dont know. So brainstorm a bit on that one. We are working on it buts its always hard to try and get free shit ahaa.. Who knows, we might be able to have some more merchandise for the riders and hopefully a product toss (aka apeshit festival.)

OTHER PLANS/GOALS
David will get a first edition flyer with the date, location etc up and out by this weekend and we will start to hype it on thecomeup board. Im assuming that Mullen will film, and between lafeyette, muncie and indy we could have a serious crew riding the park. More than anything we just want to get alot of people to show up and ride our local park, which shouldnt be difficult at all. Obviously we cant shut down the park to skaters, but Im hoping that if we show up with an extra large group and advertise ahead of time, the attendance of the skate population will be minimal. Im going to avoid talking to the city even though every we are planning on is legal, but I just dont want to be responsible for the actions of every rider. As of now, I just want to get everyone pumped on the idea of our own local jam and to hear of any other ideas you guys have. Im thinking I will rock the grill and a cooler full of water bottles to hopefully make some progress towards our group VX-2100 purchase. Another idea we have is to charge a minimal entry fee (1$) that goes into a community pot that is up for grabs through the best trick contest. I figure that with a few free T-Shirts from solutions, cash money for best trick, a grill and 100+ riders from the area we will be in for a rowdy time. Anyways, for now all we need is for everyone to try and clear their calendars for APRIL 19TH and to either talk to David or me or post in the comments with any ideas you guys have and if you are willing to help with anything. We could use a PA and an announcer(s) for various points in the day as well. More info as we figure more out, just letting you know whats up for now. So start getting a team of 4 together and get ready for the 19th
